I was going to try and write this blurb in Seussian rhyme, but there's a reason why only Dr. Seuss could do it...that s**t's hard!

This week our hosts are joined by a very special guest...their good friend, Christine Chun!  Christine came over to the KYD HQ for a healthy dose of wassail, gift swapping and of course, nostalgia.  Christine requested to watch a childhood favorite of hers and Dan and Chrysten, being in the Christmas spirit, were happy to oblige!

How the Grinch Stole Christmas is a cartoon TV special based on the popular Dr. Seuss children's book of the same name.  Originally aired in 1966, it was so popular that it was aired annually at Christmastime and quickly became one of those integral pieces synonymous with the season.  Our crabby protagonist, The Grinch, is hell-bent on preventing Christmas from coming to his annoyingly celebratory neighbors, The Whos.  With his dog, Max, The Grinch crafts an elaborate scheme to steal all of the Christmas cheer from under their noses.  But The Grinch winds up getting more than he bargained for, and learns a very important lesson about the true meaning of Christmas!

Will this perennial favorite make our hosts' hearts grow three sizes?  Join us and find out!  And don't forget to RATE, REVIEW & SUBSCRIBE!

Over the Thanksgiving holiday, your beloved hosts attempted to watch Bambi, Disney's classic animated tale of adorable animals and murder, with their adorable nephews.  However, the nephews were more interested in banging their plastic toys together and throwing s**t across the room, so the endeavor proved fruitless.  So Dan and Chrysten decided, "F**k it, we'll just watch it ourselves cuz we live for this s**t."  And here we are!

Bambi is the story of a newly born fawn named Bambi, a sweet if not somewhat clumsy lil' fella.  Alongside his woodland friends, Thumper the bunny and Flower the skunk, Bambi and his buddies learn a lot about life, love and friendship in the forest.  This is a film that traumatized many children of the 80s and nearly bankrupted the Disney animation studio of the 40s.  Both of our hosts loved this as kids, but will it cause the emotional scars in them as adults as it did when they were clumsy little fawns themselves?  Join us and find out!  And don't forget to RATE, REVIEW & SUBSCRIBE!

It's the moooost spookiest tiiiime of the yeeear...wait, that makes no grammatical sense.  Anyway...it's Halloween time again, darlings!  And Dan and Chrysten are back with another spooky episode!  True to form, Dan has never seen 90s teen classic The Craft, so naturally, Chrysten is making him sit through it and enjoy it in all of its teen goth glory!

When Sarah (Robin Tunney) moves to a new town, she is befriended by a group of outcast girls (Fairuza Balk, Neve Campbell & Rachel True) whose extracurricular activities are witchcraft!  At first it seems like a bunch of harmless tricks, but as the girls become increasingly drunk with power, things start to spiral out of control!

Dan definitely remembers seeing the posters for this movie and thinking with his teenage boy brain that the ladies of The Craft were hot stuff, but will he think the same about the movie?  Join us and find out!  And don't forget to RATE, REVIEW & SUBSCRIBE!

Aloha, darlings!  Your hosts just got back from vacation in Hawaii and in an attempt to hold onto that island spirit, this month's episode is focused on Disney's most famous Hawaiian animated feature.  No, not Moana.  Moana's set in Polynesia.  Duh.  We are talking about 2002's Lilo & Stitch!

Lilo and Nani have lost their parents in a tragic car accident and are trying to keep what is left of their little family together.  Desperate for a friend, Lilo makes a wish on a falling star.  Little does she know that the falling star is actually a stolen space cruiser, piloted by an alien super weapon!  When she adopts the super weapon as her pet (giving him the moniker of Stitch) they both discover the true meaning of ohana.  Featuring the voice talents of Tia Carrere, David Ogden Stiers, Ving Rhames and more, Lilo & Stitch is one of those Disney films that kids and parents alike can enjoy!  But will our hosts feel that true spirit of aloha as they watch?  Tune in and see!  And don't forget to RATE, REVIEW & SUBSCRIBE!

Twilight sucks.  Twilight sucks.  Twilight sucks.

OK, now that we've got that out of the way, let's talk about an actual awesome vampire series.  Penned by Anne Rice back in the 80s/90s, The Vampire Chronicles were what every bookish teenage girl read and swooned over.  And by every bookish teenage girl, we're talking about Chrysten.  So of course because there were wildly successful books, there had to be a movie.  Enter 1994's Interview with the Vampire.

Brad Pitt plays Louis, a vampire telling his story to an eager reporter (played by Christian Slater).  He regales Slater with the story of how he was made and the relationship he had with his maker, Lestat (Tom Cruise) and some of the other vampire relationships he had over the years.  Also starring Kirsten Dunst as the curly haired child vampire, Claudia, and Antonio Banderas (TOO SEXY!) as the oldest living vampire, Armand, this movie is one of those terrible period dramas that Chrysten loves.  But will Dan fall under the vampire's spell?  Join us and find out!  And don't forget to RATE, REVIEW & SUBSCRIBE!

We're bringing this episode to you a little early this month because we love you soooo much!  Well, actually, Chrysten has a show she wanted to shamelessly promote, so...you're welcome?

This month we take a Rainbow Rescue Beam up to Cloud City, oh sorry...Care-A-Lot to visit those cuddly little harbingers of good feelings...The Care Bears!  This movie was another of Chrysten's taped off the TV repeat watch-ers, so when she saw it was on (F**KIN') HULU she knew she had to make Dan (a.k.a. Grumpy Bear) sit through it!

Our friends, the Care Bears, try to help two young orphans open their hearts to love and friendship while battling the forces of evil brought to Earth by an enchanted book of magic spells and the young magician's apprentice that it is enchanting!  But will the Care Bear Stare be able to work its magic on our hosts?  Join us and find out!  And don't forget to RATE, REVIEW & SUBSCRIBE!

Also...here's the link to tickets for Chrysten's show.  If you're in NYC come on out and see it! https://web.ovationtix.com/trs/cal/104

Grab your tissues, folks!  This month Dan and Chrysten are back and they are watching that renowned family drama...Follow That Bird...?  Yes, you read that right.  You may not think a Sesame Street movie could make you cry multiple times in one sitting, but you'd be mistaken. This movie was a special request from Dan's friend, Ashley, and since your hosts were raised on Sesame Street, they were all too happy to oblige!

In this big screen iteration of America's favorite children's television show, our large yellow protagonist, Big Bird, is spirited away from his home on Sesame Street to live with "his own kind" as part of a bird family in Oceanview, Illinois (this joke is never not funny).  When things don't work out with his foster family, Big Bird tries to run away back home to Sesame Street.  While on the lam, he is pursued by mean Miss Finch who placed him with the foster family, a team of carnie brothers that want to exploit him for money, and his own loving Sesame Street family who just want to bring him home!

As we have established in previous episodes, your hosts are suckers for that Jim Henson Muppet magic...but will it work on them this time? Join us and find out!  And don't forget to RATE, REVIEW & SUBSCRIBE!

Happy Memorial Day, darlings!  We're back with another totally 90s episode of Killing Your Darlings!

This time it's Dan's pick and we are watching quite possibly the most nineties movie to have ever ninetied in the nineties, Hackers!  This movie made Angelina Jolie a star, motorcycle gear an essential fashion choice and Johnny Lee Miller...American? Miller plays a teen computer hacker named Crash Override who as a young boy pulled off one of the greatest hacks in history.  When he moves to NYC with his mom, he falls in with a group of fellow cool teens who are also deep into the hacking scene.  Together they work to prevent a nefarious oil company security magnate (Fisher Stevens) from stealing millions of dollars and framing them for the crime!  As a young hacker himself in the 90s, Dan loved this movie!  But will he love it as a full grown adult hacker*?  Join us and find out!  And don't forget to RATE, REVIEW & SUBSCRIBE!

*ATTENTION ALL INTERNET FBI PERSONNEL: Dan is not actually a hacker, nor was he ever one as a young person.  We're just typing that for dramatic effect.  So, no legal action, please. kthxbai

Hello, darlings!  Sorry we've been a bit tardy with this month's ep.  We've been busy trying to turn our new house into a home!  And speaking of happy homes...

Is there any home that seems more warm and full of familial bliss than the March family home in this month's film, Little Women?  Winona Ryder at her absolute charming best, Trini Alvarado as the consummate eldest sister, Claire Danes ugly crying in a non-annoying way, and Kirsten Dunst as the pain-in-the-ass lil' sis!  And don't forget the ultimate cool mom, Susan Sarandon, as Marmee!  Plus some young Christian Bale action, pre-batsuit!

Chrysten loved watching this movie with her little sister when they were kids.  Dan...has never even heard of Little Women.  Can our wife-host convince our husband-host of the glories of this female-centric (as well as female directed AND female written!) film?  Join us and find out!  And don't forget to RATE, REVIEW & SUBSCRIBE!

OK, ok...we know we're late.  But we've got a good excuse!  And we've got a new episode for you now!

Chrysten used to watch Dune with her dad when she was definitely way too young to be watching anything helmed by David Lynch.  Dan had started watching Dune awhile back and...thinks he stopped after the first twenty minutes or so?  So what do your two hosts do when they have just moved into a new apartment and have no time or money to go out in the new neighborhood?  They watch Dune.

Based on the Frank Herbert novel, Dune is the epic saga of the feud between House Atreides and House Harkonnen and their political war over an intergalactic export called "The Spice."  There's a prophesy, some terrible knife fights, Sting, and lotsa David Lynch visuals!  But how do our hosts feel about Lynch's sci-fi endeavor?  Join us and find out!  And don't forget to RATE, REVIEW & SUBSCRIBE!

...Cuz we're back, baby!  After a few week hiatus, your hosts Dan & Chrysten are back with a brand new episode of KYD for your earholes!  This month, we decided to focus on a film that centers on the most famous holiday in the month of February...Groundhog Day!  That's right.  Valentine's Day is for suckers.

Bill Murray plays Pittsburgh weather man, Phil Connors, whose inflated ego causes him to treat everyone around him like a jerk, including his cameraman, Larry (Chris Elliott) & new producer, Rita (Andie MacDowell).  Every year, Phil and the crew from the TV station travel to Punxsutawney to film the eponymous groundhog, Punxsutawney Phil, seeing his shadow.  After the festivities, Phil & the crew try to make it back to Pittsburgh, but are stopped by a heavy snowstorm.  When Phil wakes up the next day in Punxsutawney, it's Groundhog Day all over again.  And Phil is forced to live the day over and over again until he basically stops being a s**thead.

This is one of those movies that was always on in both childhood households of our hosts, but neither of them have seen it all the way through in a long time.  Will the charms of Bill Murray and Andie MacDowell's terrible drink choices** hold up?  Join us and find out!  And don't forget to RATE, REVIEW & SUBSCRIBE!

**We actually tried sweet vermouth on the rocks with a twist last night.  It was delicious.

Last week, we took a request from you, our faithful listeners, and promptly ignored it.  Sorry 'bout it...we watched it this week instead.  Hope you're cool with that.

What About Bob? is the story of successful psychiatrist, Dr. Leo Marvin (Richard Dreyfuss) and what happens when his new patient, Bob Wiley (Bill Murray) a "multi-phobic personality characterized by acute separation anxiety and extreme need for family connections" decides to follow Dr. Marvin on his family vacation to Lake Winnipesaukee against the wishes of Dr. Marvin.  At first, Dr. Marvin views Bob as an annoyance that is interfering with his downtime and his upcoming on-location interview for Good Morning America.  But as Bob continues to spend more time with Dr. Marvin's family despite Leo's protestations, the good doctor slowly starts to be the one more in need of therapy than Bob!  Featuring hilarious comic performances from Bill Murray (duh) and Richard Dreyfuss as the suffering straight man, this family friendly comedy was in constant rotation at the childhood homes of both of our hosts.  But will the magical Murray charm still hold up?  Join us and find out!  And don't forget to RATE, REVIEW & SUBSCRIBE!

This week your hosts were absolutely freezing and thought it would be a good idea to watch a movie that takes place in summer to help get their minds off of how friggin' cold it is!  We put up a poll to get some suggestions from you, our faithful listeners, and you chose What About Bob!  But then Dan's sister and friend of the show, Ellie Cohen, ran into some serious travel woes and requested we do Planes, Trains & Automobiles and we agreed because, well, family first and all that.  We promise to return next week with our regularly scheduled audience requests!

Planes, Trains & Automobiles is the story of Neal Page (Steve Martin) an advertising executive on a business trip in New York who wants nothing more than to make it back home to his family in Chicago for Thanksgiving.  But when Neal's cab is accidentally stolen by curtain ring salesman, Del Griffith (John Candy) and his subsequent flight home is rerouted to St. Louis, his travel luck gets worse and worse.  Featuring stellar comic performances by Martin and Candy, this 80s classic is certainly not something our hosts watched as kids, but they were happy to watch in support of Dan's stranded sibling.  But what did they really think of this John Hughes exploration of the horrors of holiday travel?  Join us and find out!  And don't forget to RATE, REVIEW & SUBSCRIBE!

Get on up!  It's Bobsled time!  That's right, darlings.  This week we took a poll to see which cold weather movie was your fave and by a landslide, you guys chose Disney's 1993 hit Cool Runnings!  Loosely (and we mean VERY loosely) based on the true story of the first Jamaican Olympic bobsled team!  Derice Bannock (played by the solo monikered Leon) dreams of competing for Olympic gold on the Jamaican track team, just like his father.  But when he is accidentally tripped by a fellow runner during the qualifying race, his dreams seem to be dashed forever.  Until he realizes that he can still compete in the winter Olympics...if he assembles the first ever Jamaican bobsled team!  Aided by his pushcart derby champ friend, Sanka Coffie (played by Doug E. Doug, remember him?), they recruit former bobsledding gold medalist, Irving Blitzer (played by John Candy) as their coach.  They add the runner that tripped Derice to the team as well as the OTHER runner that that dude also tripped (man, that was one serious fall) and they are off to the races, so to speak.  Now, our hosts have watched this movie in the past few years, so SPOILER ALERT, they already know how great it is.  But do YOU?  Join us and find out!  And don't forget to RATE, REVIEW & SUBSCRIBE!
